Wow, so the last time I bought a camera was in the year 2000 (7 years and 8 months?). It was a Canon S10 and cost me a bucket load of money. In fact, I think I spent like $900 for the camera, $100 for an extra battery and the 64 mb compact flash memory card I bought cost me $260! Fast forward... I bought a Canon SD1000 (Seems I only buy cameras that have names starting with 'Canon S' and end with an odd number of '0's) at Futureshop for $259, as well as a 4gb sdhc card for $100 more or so. Talk about progress... Let's compare the 2:
| | S10 | SD1000 |
| Cost | $900 | $259 |
| Megapixels | 2 | 7.1 |
| Max Res | 1600x1200 | 3072 x 2304 |
| Size | Hand Sized | REALLY Small |
| Movies | No | Yes |
| Neato'ness | Image Stitch Assist | Cool clock if you hold down a button |
Anyways, it's pretty good and lets me take videos up to I think 1 hr long (within the 4gb file size limit). So now I can at least take some pictures/videos of the snowboarding season that's
FAST APPROACHING! Oh, and yes, I already dropped it (dropped it when I first openned the box, sigh ;;)
Here's a sample video I took to test things out (it's compressed. The original was higher quality but also 300 mb;;).
Update: I was going to embed the video here but I realize that I don't like doing that, so you'll have to
click this link to watch the video.
In other news, I forgot to bring my razor with me to Edmonton this week ;; I should really put my photo gallery back up, but man, it's just so much work haha.
